On Monday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, 900 Church Street, Mayor Joan Foster and Vice Mayor Treney Tweedy will deliver the 2018 State of the City Address. The public is cordially invited to attend.
This year, Mayor Foster and Vice Mayor Tweedy will recognize five citizens for outstanding community service work. The 2018 recipients of the Mayor’s Award of Excellence are Tyeast Blanding, Chris M. Boswell, Douglas H. Pugh, II and Jeff and Sally Schneider.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., entertainment will be provided by members of the Lynchburg arts and culture community. The Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC) will lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Morgan Gafford, a member of the MYC, will sing the National Anthem.
A reception in The Galleria will follow the State of the City Address with light hors d’oeuvres served by area restaurants.
