This winter, one of the City of Lynchburg’s top priority transportation projects will start construction. The Odd Fellows Rd. Interchange update will include:
- Creating a new access point to Route 29/460 from 501 to decrease traffic congestion on Candlers Mountain Rd.
- The opportunity to increase freight access to the properties on Odd Fellows Road and Mayflower Drive, making the area more accessible
- Improved safety, by providing more visibility to drivers and more space for trucks
- Bike and pedestian access, which will provide safe travel for residents and students living in the new Liberty University dormitories on Odd Fellows Road
During construction, single lanes will be temporarily closed on Route 460 and Odd Fellows Road, but these will only take place during non-peak hours between 7pm and 6am. The construction will also cause Odd Fellows Road and Mayflower Drive to be closed for a period of 90 calendar days or less.
The project will not only improve the Hill City’s infrastructure for commerce and transportation, but it will also reduce traffic bottlenecking and congestion for drivers.
