LYNCHBURG, VA – Kroger plans to expand one of of Lynchburg area stores, and add jobs.
The grocery chain says it will invest more than $12 million to increase the size of the Timberlake Road store. The expansion will add about 50 jobs. The store currently employs 175 people.
Kroger expects construction to take about eleven months. The store will remain open during the expansion work. Windle Construction of Lynchburg is the contractor for the work.
The expansion will increase the size of the store from the current 53,000 square feet to 87,000 square feet. It will include a new store front. When completed, the new Timberlake
Road store will be the largest in the Lynchburg region.
Part of the expansion work will demolish three empty small stores on the west side of the current store. Parking will also expand.
“We are pleased to invest in the Lynchburg market by expanding and modernizing the Timberlake store,” said Carl York, spokesperson. “Our loyal Kroger shoppers will appreciate the additional selection, new décor and additional parking.”
