The 27th Annual Turkey Trot is an annual benefit race to support HumanKind, a local non-profit in Lynchburg, Virginia. With proceeds benefiting economic empowerment initiatives in Lynchburg, such as HumanKind’s Ways to Work program, the Lynchburg Economic Development Authority invites those returning home to Lynchburg for the Thanksgiving to explore the City through this unique event.
The race takes place on Thanksgiving morning and every year, thousands come out to support the efforts of HumanKind and give back during the holiday season. Whether you are a walker or a runner, young or old, you are welcome! You can participate in the 5K run, 4K walk, or the youth mile, but remember to register as soon as possible to ensure a shirt and finishers medal.
Many local businesses, along with the City of Lynchburg’s Economic Development Authority, continue to support this event through sponsorship, including: B&W, Billy Craft Honda, Fleet, Schewels, Edmunds & Williams, Campbell Insurance, the News & Advance, Areva, Robinson, Farmer, Cox & Associates, and more.
HumanKind’s goal is to care for individuals and families through counseling and education. They aim to foster a community where people are compassionate and value others. And, in doing so, strive to enable families and individuals so they can prosper in their community.
